The month of April is becoming widely recognized as Earth Month. Cities around the world find their own ways to celebrate and honor the event, and Santa Barbara is no different. In fact, Santa Barbara is considered one of the birthplaces of Earth Day celebrations, and focuses on eco-friendly practices year-round as part of its commitment to becoming more “green.”

This year, festivities kick off on Wednesday, April 18 at Oreana Winery, with celebrations culminating on Sunday, April 22.  The free, multi-day event features an eco-marketplace of more than 200 exhibitors, live music, food and beverages, free bike valet parking, green car show and a Kids’ Corner.

Major events take place on Saturday, April, 21 from11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 22 from 11a.m. to 6 p.m. at Alameda Park, 1400 Santa Barbara Street. For more information call 963-0583 ext. 100 or visit www.SBEarthDay.org
